Part - 1

The Foothills race is a beautiful course and the spring blossoms make it very pretty this time of the year. It winds its way through grape vineyards and Almond orchards at the edge of the central valley. The roads are decent and it has a few sections of rolling hills which make it interesting.

On the other hand for the press or photographer, its quite tedious and you will spend many hours of waiting for only a few photographs. Clearly this is a moto course, that's the only way to do it. However, media vehicle access is tight and media is not allowed to pass the fields in a car, but perhaps a moto could if an arrangement could be worked out. I'm not a big fan of moto work, as I have known press people who have fallen off of motos in the past.

This race is also an early bird race, which makes it harder to kick out of bed really early to get there if you live quite a distance away. I find this race to be well away from public view and perhaps is more just something for the riders then the fans. However, if you are lucky enough, it is possible to get some great shots or perhaps a panorama view of nature with the riders in the distance. There certainly is the potential to do something interesting with the camera.
